If you know a Hokie preparing to move into their on-campus home, these move-in maintenance tips can help them and their move-in crew have a smoother move-in day experience!
Lofting and De-lofting a Bed
Students can change the height of the bed in their residence hall room. Here’s how to do it!
- We recommend bringing a rubber mallet for move-in to help get the bed frame out of position
- If Hokies do not wish to de-loft their own bed, they can place a work order with Student Affairs Facilities and Operations on the service portal
- Students can contact the Student Leader designated to their residence hall for a mallet or help placing a work order
MicroFridge and Microwave Troubleshooting
Students will have a MicroFridge and a microwave provided in their room. No additional fridges or microwaves are allowed!
If their MicroFridge or microwave isn't working as they expect it to, they can watch our Ultimate MicroFridge Troubleshooting Guide covering the most common fixes!
Elevator Status Updates
Students can visit the Elevator Status webpage for real-time updates on which elevators are up and running—and which ones we’re working hard to fix.
In an effort to increase accessibility and decrease inconvenience, the Student Affairs Facilities and Operations team updates this webpage regularly to share elevator status in campus residence halls, dining halls, and student centers.
Due to routine maintenance and service interruptions that are typically handled in a couple of hours, short-term shutdowns (less than a day) will not be included on the site.
