Living on campus, there will come a day when a student wants to place a work order or let someone know something isn’t working quite right. While you — their friend or family member — may be the first person they think to call, there is a team of facilities experts on campus to help them!
For residential spaces — think residence halls, dining halls, and student centers — they will place a work order with the Student Affairs Facilities and Operations Team!
How can students contact us?
To reach our team, students can:

- Visit our website for more information on work orders, fire safety, elevator updates, no-cost menstrual products, campus renovations, and more
- Call 540-231-1111
Our team is available from 7:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m., Monday — Friday, to assist students with information, support, and guidance on our facilities and services. After hours, call the Housing Services desk at 540-231-6205. If a student cannot reach the Desk, they can also call 540-231-1111 and follow prompts for our 24/7 on-call service staff.
How to place a work order
- Place a work order with our team by navigating to the service portal.
- Once a student is in the portal, they should log in with their Virginia Tech email and password.
- Follow the prompts on-screen from there.
- Access a tutorial video on how to place a work order!
