Do you know a Hokie living on campus in 2025? They may not be thinking about trash disposal as they prepare to move, but knowing how to complete this day-to-day activity on their own is essential! Share these tips to help them prepare for life on campus.
Trash Disposal
The following items should be disposed of in dumpster or trash compactor marked "Landfill/Trash Only" located around campus
- Plastics #3 - #7
- Tin foil
- Plastic bags and straws
We have several trash compactors and dumpsters located on campus near residence halls. Access a PDF dumpster and trash compactor locations map that shows permanent locations and additional, temporary locations available on move-in days.
- Trash compactors are available for all students to use
- If a student is not comfortable using the compactor, or one is not convenient to their residence hall, they should place trash in a dumpster marked for Trash/Landfill according to the campus dumpster location map
Please note, if students leave trash on the ground, they may be charged for clean-up/disposal for improperly disposed trash that is traced back to them.
