Did you know VT has a plethora of resources available for students related to their well-being? Check out what we have to offer below and share with a Hokie you know!

Residential Well-being

What is RWB? It starts with our belief that maintaining student wellness is a priority in our community. We want to help Hokies find the necessary resources to achieve their goals, so we offer a variety of workshops, programs, services, and events to help them on that wellness journey! Students can take the first step towards progressing or maintaining your well-being with our services below.

Hokie Wellness

Hokie Wellness can answer questions about many types of well-being — finances, sex, sleep, mental health, understanding alcohol, substance misuse, and digital wellness. No matter what the wellness topic is, Hokie Wellness gives students the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to make quality health decisions and learn how to live healthy lives!

We encourage Hokies to take an active and engaging day-to-day approach to their wellness in order to enjoy a long, healthful, and purpose-filled life. We support this goal by providing classes, workshops, coaching, and outreach in the community. Check out what we have to offer on our Hokie Wellness page.

Cook counseling Center

Cook Counseling Center offers students mental health and other services that allow for a flexible, multi-faceted approach to meet emerging and varying needs.

How can students get started at Cook Counseling Center?

  • Schedule a Cook Connect Session by calling the Center’s office at 540-231-6557
  • A Cook Connect (triage) clinician will typically have an appointment available within 2-3 business days
  • The first session will be a 20-30 minute meeting where the clinician will hear student concerns, discuss available resources, and collaborate with the student to develop a plan that will provide the support they need. The clinician will help students schedule follow-up sessions if needed.

What services do we offer?

At the first appointment, the student will discuss available services with a counselor. These include:

  • Individual counseling
  • Couples counseling (both members of the couple must be enrolled VT students)
  • Consultation with students and parents
  • Groups and workshops
  • Psychiatry / Medication management
  • Referral to appropriate campus offices
  • Referral to off-campus providers
  • Support groups and workshops.

Find more information about all of these services on our website!

Timely Care

Hokies have free, 24/7 access to virtual care services with TimelyCare — the virtual health and well-being platform from TimelyMD that was designed for college students — as a Virginia Tech student!

What services can students access through TimelyCare?

  • On-demand mental health support 24/7 through TalkNow
  • Telehealth counseling for up to 12 sessions per academic year
  • Unlimited health coaching

We highly recommend students register for TimelyCare online or download the app. Even if they don’t plan to use the app right away, we encourage them to download the app now! Just as you download Uber in case you ever need a ride, download TimelyCare in case you ever need support. It only takes a minute!
